Bronze Tympanum and Entry Doors Installed at Cathedral of St Joseph
The long-anticipated final elements of the Cathedral of St Joseph in Jefferson City have arrived. The stunning new stained glass windows are all in place, as is the organ, and the magnificent bronze tympanum and entry doors have now been installed at the west entrance.
The tympanum, depicting St Joseph with the symbols of his patronage, was fabricated by master bronze casters working in the tradition of ecclesiastical metalwork. Together with the doors below it, the entrance now reads as it should — as a threshold, a moment of preparation, a statement in bronze and stone of what awaits inside.
