Groundbreaking: New Church of the Holy Spirit, North Carolina
Ground has been broken for the new Church of the Holy Spirit in North Carolina — a $12.5 million project designed to seat 675 faithful in a new classical basilica serving a parish that has grown well beyond the capacity of its existing building.
The design draws on the tradition of the Roman basilica, adapted to the landscape and climate of the Carolina piedmont. A long nave, natural light from clerestory windows, stone and brick construction — a building designed to be built once, and to last.
